  1. README.INSTALLING
  2. -----------------
  3.  
  4. Required:
  5.   First you have to have a c64/c128/vic20 computer (which is referred to as
  6.  c64 in the following text) with a diskdrive, an RS-232 converter (like the
  7. VIC-1011A RS232C or the Handic V24 interface) and a 3-line standard
  8. nullmodem cable.  You must also have an Amiga running OS2.04 or higher.
  9.  
  10. Installing:
  11.  
  12. 1.  Type in the 'boot.asc' program on your c64. (boot.asc is exactly the
  13.     same on c64/vic20/etc...)  This is an 150 baud receiver program.
  14.     Remember to switch to normal kernal!  ("boot" needs the kernal RS232
  15.     drivers)  Do not add extra spaces to the basic code, as this slows down
  16.     the program and it might fail to work.
  17.     If you are using some kind cartridge (TFC, AR, etc...) turn it OFF.
  18.  
  19. 2.  Save "boot" to disk!
  20.  
  21. 3.  Type 'RUN' on the c64.  It should now say 'WAITING...'.
  22.  
  23. 4.  Type 'bin/Over5 BOOT 64bin/diskslave' on the Amiga.
  24.     some '#'s should start appearing on the c64.
  25.     (yes, it is one hash mark per byte)
  26.  
  27. 5.  First the booter is transferred. 512 bytes. (40 seconds approx)
  28.  
  29. 6.  The c64 should now say '* STAGE 2 *', this means the booter is active.
  30.     If not check the c64 program, cables, etc... and goto 3
  31.  
  32. 7.  After a while some more '#'s should start appearing on the c64.  This
  33.     time more slowly.  No worry though, because 32 bytes are transferred
  34.     for each hash mark. 
  35.     This will last for about 2:30 minutes.
  36.  
  37. 8.  Now the c64 should say 'OK, NOW SAVE TO DISK!' (tape will work fine to)
  38.     If it does: type 'SAVE"DISKSLAVE",8'.
  39.     If not check the c64 program, cables, etc... and goto 3
  40.  
  41. 9.  Type "RUN" on the c64. (Select Turbo on or off)  Then press space.
  42.     The screen should now be grey.
  43.  
  44. 10. Transfer the rest of '64bin' with 'bin/Over5 COPY <filename> 8:'
